| PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |
| Purpose:
The primary purpose of this qualification is to provide qualifying learners with intellectual competencies and practical skills in the acquisition, interpretation and understanding of transport management principles. Also, the qualification aims to develop learner with a wide range of vocational and industry-specific intellectual competencies, knowledge and practical skills. This will enable learners to critically explain and apply multi-modal transportation management principles, processes and procedures. Rationale: The qualification will provide the learner with a range of fundamental knowledge and competencies in fields such as business communication, information systems, industrial relations and project management. Furthermore, it will provide the learner with detailed knowledge about general management principles and specific multi-modal transport management principles. The programme is relevant and responsive to the needs of the South African transport management industry. The learner should be able to take decisions in the context of a transport organisation, or the transport function of an organisation, to assess and adapt to circumstances impacting the organisation, and to explain the reasons behind such adaptations. |

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is done in accordance with following the Institution RPL Policy. | EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES |
| 1. Comprehend essential requirements for contractual and delictual liability and to obtain an in-depth and practical overview of the various business entities and the role of the paralegal in disputes relevant to these entities.
2. Obtain a theoretical and practical overview of the common law and legislation which defines the criminal law, criminal procedure law and law of evidence as well as a broad perspective of the legislation as it pertains to the functioning of both business entities and natural persons. 3. Be competent in analysing and applying the legislation which regulates family law in the event of a dispute or where the rights of a person are enforced. 4. Demonstrate an understanding of road freight transport management concepts and principles. 5. Explain the importance and role of the road freight transport industry and the functioning thereof on a macro- and a micro-level. 6. Interpret and apply road transport legislation within the road freight transport management context. 7. Undertake investigations in the road freight transport field, including gathering, integrating, interpreting and presenting related information. 8. Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship and impact between the levels of management (strategic and operational) within the road freight transport management fields. 9. Organise and coordinate resources and opportunities in the road freight transport field. | The following associated assessment criteria apply across all Exit Level Outcomes:
Integrated Assessment: Integrated assessment, focusing on the achievement of the Exit Level Outcomes, will be done by completion of two individual assignments and one written examinations and also a qualification project in the 3rd year. For all the assessment purposes, self-assessment questions at the end of each learning unit offer learners the opportunity to assess whether they understand the unit entirely before attempting the next learning unit. |

| The Swinburne University of Technology in Australia offers a Diploma of Logistics which is a general qualification for the integrated management of logistics operations. This qualification prepares learners to responsibly manage varied functions in the wide broad area of logistics including freight, supply chains, transport, inventory, procurement, warehousing and other areas. The purpose and outcomes of the qualification compare favourably with the institution's qualification. The qualification duration is one year full-time and differs from the institution's qualification which is three years full-time. Swinburne University of Technology in Australia offers a Bachelor of Business with Major in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. The duration of the qualification is three years full-time which is the same as the institution's qualification. The Bachelor of Business is designed to equip learners with core skills and knowledge in business, management and operations to prepare them for roles in modern organisations.
