PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
Purpose:
Graduates of this program are able to work without supervision. They are highly skilled and well sort after. They are capable of performing various chemical manipulations, interpret data, draw conclusions and take important decisions in work or research environment. A good number of graduates of this programme usually pursue their studies further to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) level.

Rationale:
This programme produces skilled chemists able to join the chemical industry and high level government services. It is also a prelude to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) qualifications which forms the bedrock of manpower in academic institutions.
