PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
Purpose:
The purpose of this qualification is to equip students with the knowledge and competencies to understand and apply both traditional Computer Science and Information Systems principles. This qualification is for students who wish to enter a computing profession, such as software development. In addition, students who intend pursuing higher Degrees will find that the deeper level knowledge in the programme is essential for future research.

Rationale:
The qualification has been active for many years and is important as a first step in research training.

    Integrated Assessment:
  • The written treatise is a form of Integrated Assessment. It is a written document which provided evidence of an integrated design/research methodology which includes extensive literature review, problem formulation, solution design, data collection, and analysis. Students are expected to apply their learned theoretical concepts within the context of this integrated work. 

  • INTERNATIONAL COMPARABILITY 
    The qualification in its, design content and delivery, is at par with similar qualifications offered at other universities nationally and internationally. 

    ARTICULATION OPTIONS 
    This qualification articulates both horizontally and vertically.

    Horizontal Articulation:
