PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
People credited with this unit standard have proven the ability to:
  • Identify and explain the purpose of and select the various types of bearings used in refrigeration, air-conditioning and ventilation equipment.
  • Explain the causes, effects and prevention of bearing failure.
  • Carry out maintenance, fitting and/or removing bearings in accordance with manufacturer`s instructions. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Ability to use and maintain hand and specialist tools used in the trade of air-conditioning, refrigeration and ventilation and required for removal and replacement of bearings.

    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
    Any person wishing to be assessed against this unit standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA, who may appoint a moderator to be present at the assessment.

    The assessor must have knowledge and experience of air-conditioning or refrigeration.
