PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Install pre-assembled, self-propelled transport refrigeration systems .The help of an assistant to lift the equipment may be required. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
Use hand tools used in the refrigeration trade. Identify electrical cables and components. Apply fixing methods, keys and locking devices. Use electrical testing tools. Explain the operation and function of the vapour compression refrigeration cycle.

    Supplementary information:

    A self-propelled transport refrigeration system is a pre-assembled, self-contained cooling unit for trucks transporting goods at low temperature.
    It includes a diesel motor to drive the refrigeration compressor when the truck is on the road as well as an electric motor for when the truck is stationery and close to a power supply point.
