PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for persons who will have primary contact with small to medium business clients. Persons credited with this unit standard will be able to make objective assessments of the client`s financial requirements, taking into account the specific requirements of the business and then link the client`s needs to the appropriate facility and complete the necessary documentation. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
Persons attempting this unit standard are required to have a thorough understanding of business economics, knowledge of frontline and support functions, general credit knowledge and an understanding of small to medium business products. Such persons must demonstrate competence in at least two aspects of investment solutions.

3. The operational requirements of the business are taken into account when establishing the needs of the business according to the bank's policy.

Including but not limited to terms, notice period, interest growth, capital growth, minimum and maximum balances, opening balances, withdrawal options, additional deposits.

3. The penalties involved with early withdrawals are discussed with the client in line with bank policy and the Code of Banking Practice.

Including but not limited to costs, penalty fees, withdrawal before the time.

4. The ways in which the use of the facility can benefit the client are explained in the manner required by the bank.

5. The client is advised of the appropriate cost and fee structure within the predetermined criteria and according to the Code of Banking Practice.

6. The client's concerns are addressed politely and to the client's satisfaction.

7. The documentation is forwarded to the relevant department as per banking procedure. 


UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
1. Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.

2. Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard or assessing this unit standard must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA.

3. Moderation of assessment will be overseen by the relevant ETQA according to the moderation guidelines in the relevant qualification and the agreed ETQA procedures.

Therefore anyone wishing to be assessed against this unit standard may apply to be assessed by any assessment agency, assessor or provider institution which is accredited by the relevant ETQA.

  • Operating and computer systems knowledge sufficient to complete the function/task and locate the necessary information.
  • An understanding of basic elements and principles of sound investments
  • A broad knowledge of the wide range of banking products.
  • Good customer relation skills.
  • Detailed understanding of the banking needs of small businesses.
