PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for people who are responsible for releasing security documents from custodianship in such a manner that the custodian's interest remains secure. People credited with this unit standard are able to ascertain and acquire the documents to be released, to release the documents and to ensure that the released documents or cancellations of interest are received back for safekeeping.

ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
1. Instruction to release security documents is received according to company specifications. 
ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
Instructions may initiate from, but are not limited to attorneys, branches, internal departments e.g. legal department, and executors of deceased /insolvent estates and system generated listings.
 

ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
2. The release instruction is recorded as per company specifications. 
ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
Recording includes, but is not limited to registers, system notations and acknowledgment of receipt.
 

ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
3. The validity of the instruction is verified according to company specifications. 
ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
Validity depends on, but is not limited to mandated signatures, legitimate attorney, verification of client details and authorised consent for release.

3. Mislaid/lost documents are identified and actions are taken to obtain certified copies and/or consents to serve in lieu of originals according to company and legal regulations.

Include, but are not limited to lost policy affidavit signed by Commissioner of Oaths; Indemnity form from transferring secretary (JSE shares); Replacement of documents in terms of the Deeds Registries Act of 47 of 1937.

4. The withdrawal of documents is noted on the security record according to company specific criteria.

1. Notification of released documents, not received back yet, is obtained according to company specifications.

Notifications include, but are not limited to system generated listings, account enquiries, diarised dates and follow-up systems.

2. Status of outstanding documents is investigated and findings are recorded as per notifications and company specifications.

3. Unfinished notifications are diarised and followed-up according to company specifications. 
ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
Unfinished notifications refer to situations where work is in progress.
 

ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
4. All queries from interested parties are attended to and actioned in accordance with company specifications.

5. Outstanding documents and/or confirmation of cancellation are received, recorded and logged in as per company specifications. 


UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
1. Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.
2. Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard or assessing this unit standard must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA.
3. Moderation of assessment will be overseen by the relevant ETQA according to the moderation guidelines in the relevant qualification and the agreed ETQA procedures.

Therefore anyone wishing to be assessed against this unit standard may apply to be assessed by any assessment agency, assessor or provider institution which is accredited by the relevant ETQA.
