PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard would be useful to all people involved in the Auctioneering industry, particularly those responsible for the handling and transportation of moveable assets.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Identifying and describing movable assets.
  • Compiling a movable assets list.
  • Placing movable assets in safe custody. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that a learner will be competent in:
  • Communication at NQF Level 3.
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3. 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
  • Movable assets may include motor vehicles, furniture, curtains, garden equipment, crockery and cutlery.
  • Stock lists may include inventory lists and assets registers.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The differences between movable and immovable assets are described with examples of each. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Types of movable assets are identified and listed in accordance with legislated asset classifications. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Legislative regulations that relate to different types of movable assets are identified and an explanation is given of how they have to be applied to each type of asset. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Compile a movable assets list.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    A visual inspection of movable assets is done in accordance with company procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Movable assets are identified, listed and itemised on a stock list in required format and within agreed timeframe. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Movable assets are categorised on the stock list in required format. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Individual sellers of movable assets are labelled and recorded according to required procedure. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    Receipts for movable assets are issued according to requirements and within agreed timeframe. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 6 
    The stock list is completed in the required format and timeframe.

    Place movable assets in safe custody.

    Movable assets are stored as per instructions and in correct location.

    The responsibilities of the auctioneer as the new asset holder are described in accordance with company policies. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    A visual inspection of stored items by authorised individuals is arranged and findings recorded in required format.

  • An individual wishing to be assessed against the unit standard (including through Recognition of Prior Learning) may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant Education and Training Quality Assurance body (ETQA), or one with an appropriate memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the relevant ETQA.
