This unit standard is aimed at individuals involved in the conducting of review sessions of adventure based learning activities and programmes.

Persons credited with this unit standard will be able to:
  • Apply principles of review to enhance Adventure based Learning.
  • Conduct review sessions to enhance an Adventure Based Learning experience.
  • Reflect on and provide feedback on the information captured during reviewing sessions.

    Apply principles of review to enhance Adventure based Learning. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The benefits and purpose of a post-learning review are explained as they apply to adventure based learning. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    A climate conducive to post learning review is established to support the objectives of the session. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Environmental conditions including space, air and temperature, lighting. Emotional conditions including trust, compassion and a caring atmosphere.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Review models are explained to demonstrate their practical use in different situations in the Adventure Based Learning environment. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Conduct review sessions to enhance an Adventure Based Learning experience. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Review techniques are selected that apply to the development phases of the group. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Questioning techniques, use of aids and props, metaphorical examples to transfer learning. Review questions are used to transfer or link learning from experiences back to the work environment.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Individual participation in review sessions is obtained through the use of different review techniques and the encouragement of group interaction. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Review activities are applied so as to determine progress made by the group and individual group members. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Activities include quick, medium time and report reviews.
     

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3 
    Reflect on and provide feedback on the information captured during reviewing sessions.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Transfer of learning is summarised for individual participants/group members to emphasise learning experiences during the programme. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    A review report is compiled where appropriate to inform management on group development and learning. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The review report is used for future action planning sessions if required. 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • An individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this unit standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA. Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard or assessing this unit standard must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA.
