PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is aimed at learners who would like to identify and develop within themselves strategies to work effectively in a group, mission and within a diplomatic context. The learner will also be able to lead others to participate effectively in group context.

The qualifying learner will be capable of:
  • Analysing individuals within a team and the group dynamics within a mission and diplomatic context.
  • Participating in building relations between group members and other role players.
  • Promoting team coherence, image and Esprit de Corps.
  • Evaluating and appraising team performance in a mission. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this unit standard are assumed to have an NQF Level 5 qualification or RPL equivalent.

    Descriptions are provided of the personality types and the stages of group dynamics within a diplomatic context.

    Criteria for working as a member of a team are identified and explained, with particular application in a mission or diplomatic context.

    Behaviour conducive to working as a member of a group are explained in contrast to factors that inhibit effective teamwork in a mission or diplomatic context.

    Disruptive behaviours are evaluated in terms of the consequences for team performance.
