PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The purpose of this unit standard is to enable the accurate and efficient processing of table transactions. Successful learner cashiers will contribute towards the smooth running of the cashier's department.

On achievement of this unit standard the learner will understand and be able to:
  • Process table transactions.
  • Describe various interrelationships that exist in processing table transactions. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that learners are competent in:
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Communication at NQF Level 2 or equivalent. 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    The typical scope and context of this unit standard is compliance with regulations for processing table transactions in a casino environment.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Relevant gaming board requirements and company procedures pertaining to the processing of table transactions are outlined and described using practical examples of what may and may not be done. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Table transactions are processed accurately according to company policy and procedure. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Opening/closing of table floats, table fills, table credits.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    All information pertaining to relevant fill/credit requests, computer capture and/or manual documentation, seals and printouts is integrated in line with company procedure. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    All relevant paperwork is completed accurately according to company policy and procedure. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    The importance of cashiers processing table transactions accurately and quickly is outlined as it impacts on customer service and revenue generated. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Describe the relationships that exist between the different people in the gaming environment involved in table transactions.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The interrelationships between the processing of table transactions, security and surveillance is described to show the importance of communication. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The functions of the runner and the cashier are explained focussing on their responsibilities. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The action to be taken when paperwork is incorrectly completed (fills for wrong tables, wrong table closing sheet) is described in terms of who must be involved in rectifying the situation. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The importance of verifying the table transaction (dirty stacks, short/over stack) by two people is explained focussing on the problems if only one person is involved. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    The requirement of mandatory announcements when processing table transactions is explained in terms of organisational, requirements. 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • Anyone assessing a learner or moderating the assessment of a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable the achievement of this unit standard must be accredit as a provider with the relevant ETQA.
  • Assessment and moderation of assessment will be overseen by the relevant ETQA according to the ETQA's policies and guidelines for assessment and moderation; in terms of agreements reached around assessment and moderation between ETQA's (including professional bodies); and in terms of the moderation guideline detailed under point 4 immediately below.
  • Moderation must include both internal and external moderation of assessments at exit points of the qualification, unless ETQA policies are specified otherwise. Moderation should also encompass achievement of the competence described both in individual unit standards as well as the integrated competence described in the qualification.
