PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for extension personnel in the related technical field to apply the principles of extension management.

Learners achieving this unit standard will be able to:
  • Source information on technology, community structures, communication media, resource availability in order to plan a needs driven intervention.
  • Analyze and interpret sourced information for its relevance and applicability to the planned activity.
  • Plan and design interventions for the transfer of technology.
  • Implement the designed and planned intervention(s) for the transfer of technology amongst the target audience.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the plan and implementation of the intervention(s) for technology transfer.
  • Ensure correct application of adopted technology/practices to improve the standard of living of the target audience.

    This unit standard will specifically contribute to the qualitative development of learners by providing skills and knowledge of natural resource management, community dynamics, the production processes, and institutional support in the context of extension.

    Knowledge and skills regarding technology to be transferred are correctly interpreted, communicated and applied through appropriate audio and visual practices.

    Timely corrective measures based on evaluation reports are applied and/or demonstrated with involvement of specialists where needed in the evaluation process, to sustain progress of the intervention.
