The qualifying learner will be capable of understanding legislation, policies and statutes that impact on library and information services in South Africa.

Learners accredited with this Unit Standard will be capable of:
  • Understanding the South African Constitution (Act 108 of 1996).
  • Applying current international/national LIS related legislation.
  • Applying the current films and publications act 65 of 1996 (amended 18 of 2004).
  • Explaining and implementing current local authority by-laws and tariffs in relation to library and information services.

    It is assumed that a learner will be competent in:

    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard must be accredited by the relevant ETQA.
  • External Moderation of assessment will be overseen by the relevant ETQA at its discretion.
  • The accredited Training Provider will oversee internal moderation of assessment.
