PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A person credited with this unit standard will be able to:
  • Name the legislated institutions that regulate perishable produce exportation and their respective areas of jurisdiction.
  • Cite the regulatory elements of the Agricultural Product Standards 119 Act and the significance that these have on the exportation of perishable produce.
  • Identify the regulations and requirements of the Perishable Products Export Control Act.
  • Recognise the defined pests and organisms that affect the phytosanitary acceptability of a consignment and the requirements of the relative bilateral and protocol agreements.

    Examples of the most commonly occurring pests and organisms are indicated and a brief description of their identifying characteristics are described.
