PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The skills, values and knowledge reflected in this unit standard are required by people in the field of engineering machining.

The learning outcomes in this unit standard also contribute to the exit level outcomes required for the National Certificate in Engineering Machining (NQF level 4) and related qualifications.

Qualifying learners can set automatic production lathes. The production work is carried out by others operating and monitoring the production machine.
