PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The skills, values and knowledge reflected in this unit standard are required by people in the field of rubber technology.

Qualifying learners are able to test rubber samples, analyse the test results and identify root causes of deviations where applicable, make recommendations to maintain and improve product quality and follow up on recommendations. Learners must demonstrate this competence in relation to product verification, product substitution, modified product, modified process and non-conformances. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
This unit standard has been designed as part of a progression. It is one of a series of unit standards for rubber technology.

The credits allocated to this unit standard assume that a learner has already met the requirements of the National Certificate in Industrial Rubber Manufacturing NQF level 4. 

UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
The scope and level of this unit standard is limited to common commercial rubber applications and is determined by the ranges as indicated under the specific outcomes.

The learner should be able to work autonomously.
