PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is intended for people who are, or seek to be a human resources management or employment relations practitioner or a general manager. Persons credited with this unit standard are able to ensure that a uniform system of discipline is instituted throughout the organisation.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    1 Mechanisms are established to ensure that all relevant stakeholders are consulted in the development of the disciplinary policy and procedure.

    2 The disciplinary policy and procedure adhere to legislative requirements.

    3 The disciplinary policy and procedure contain agreed timeframes for resolution of issues.

    4 The disciplinary policy and procedure contain review mechanisms.

    5 The disciplinary policy and procedure are comprehensive, clear and conform to the principles of natural justice.

    6 Effective processes are instituted to obtain agreement from relevant stakeholders (such as workplace forums).

    7 The disciplinary code and procedure are aligned to the type of business and culture of the organisation. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Facilitate the establishment of the disciplinary policy and procedure in the organisation.

    1 Effective communication structures and media are utilised to communicate the disciplinary policy and procedure to all relevant stakeholders.

    2 Appropriate and effective training techniques are applied to train all stakeholders in the application of the disciplinary policy and procedure.

    3 Appropriate mechanisms are established to ensure that the disciplinary policy and procedure are easily accessible to all stakeholders.

    Monitor and review the disciplinary policy and procedure.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    1 Timeframes are established to ensure regular review of effectiveness of the disciplinary policy and procedure.

    2 Appropriate mechanisms are established to ensure meaningful feedback for review of the disciplinary policy and procedure.

    3 The disciplinary policy and procedure are amended in accordance with the review findings. 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
    1. Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.
    2. Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard or will assess this unit standard must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA.
    3. Moderation of assessment will be overseen by the relevant ETQA according to the moderation guidelines in the relevant qualification and the agreed ETQA procedures.

    4. Therefore, anyone wishing to be assessed against this unit standard may apply to be assessed by any assessment agency, assessor or provider institution that is accredited by the relevant ETQA.
