PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The purpose of this Unit Standard is to enable Plumbers to set out their work, procure the necessary resources, and prepare a work area to do plumbing work. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
FETC NQF Level 2 literacy and numeracy competencies. 

UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
1. Materials include: pipes, fittings, consumables, built-in items, sanitary ware, etc.

2. Tools and equipment include: vehicles, hand tools, threading machine, power tools, generators, etc.

3. Existing services include: plumbing, electrical, gas reticulation, fittings, drains, and telephone cables.

UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
Assessment of learner achievements takes place at providers accredited by CETA (RSA, 1998b) for the provision of programs that result in the outcomes specified for the Certificate for. CETA is responsible for moderation of learner achievements of learners who meet the requirements of this qualification.
