PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit standard is for people working within the inspection and enforcement services in a government department. On successful completion of the unit standard, people will be able to contribute to the planning and conducting of an audit assignment, as well as preparing related draft reports within a supervised environment.

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    This unit standard includes audits relating to :
  • Organisations approved by the Department of Labour head office as Inspection Authorities and include those approved for Occupational Hygiene, First Aid Orgaisations, Vessels under pressure, Diving Medical Practitioners, Audiometrists/Audiologists, any other approved Inspection Authority.
  • Occupational hygiene and electrical installations for purposes of legal proceedings.
  • Desk audits of plans, reports and policies requested by employers.

    Plan an audit assignment.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Relevant tools, instruments, documentation required related to the specific areas as outlined in the unit standard range, are identified correctly.

    Necessary approval processes are followed, as outlined in the Procedural Guide.

    All administrative arrangements in relation to the audit are concluded as per organisational requirements.

    All information and tools are verified in terms of their appropriateness for the specific audit to be conducted.

    Confidentiality and security procedures are strictly followed in accordance with organisational guidelines. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 6 
    The proposed audit plan is formulated clearly in consultation with appropriate personnel and submitted for approval to the appropriate person.

    Conduct an audit assignment.

    Discussions with staff involved in the audit are conducted in a manner, which promotes professional relationships between auditing and operational staff.

  • An individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this Unit Standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA, or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this Unit Standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this Unit Standard or assessing this Unit Standard must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
