PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to identify and prepare machinery for the production process.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Identifying and preparing machine requirements.
  • Setting machines and equipment. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
  • Learners accessing this qualification will have demonstrated competence in numeracy and literacy equivalent to NQF level 3.
  • They will also have achieved, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competence to, the National Certificate in Furniture Wood Machining at NQF level 3.

  • Tooling requirements: jigs; templates; measuring devices; cutters; knifes; saws; blocks

    Equipment, tools and materials required to carry out machine settings are obtained and confirmed to be in correct condition for safe and effective use

    Where settings and samples are not to specification relevant changes are made and confirmed for accuracy and quality

    Confirmation of machine settings are confirmed with relevant personnel
