This unit standard intended for learners who deal with aviation insurance. It is an introduction to a highly specialised class of business in Short Term Insurance. The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Explaining the main aviation risks.
  • Identifying the types of cover available for aviation risks.
  • Distinguishing between categories of aircraft.
  • Investigating the aviation insurance market.

    The clients in the aviation market are identified and an indication is given of the type of cover required by each category of client.

    The main insurers in the market are identified with reference to the local and overseas markets.

    The consequences of failing to ensure aviation risk are explained with reference to the catastrophic nature of aviation risk.
