PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to source information and advise rental customers on the major tourist areas. They are able to demonstrate knowledge of the geography of the area and are aware of relevant current events in their area. Learners are also able to inform rental customers of the safety precautions they need to apply while travelling to their destinations and understand any regulations/restrictions that could apply to them.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Sourcing information on major events and tourist attractions in the area.
  • Identifying location and routes to and from a destination for a customer.
  • Communicating destination information to customers.
  • Explaining restrictions on cross-border travel rentals and related conditions to customers.
  • Informing customers about safety precautions to be applied when travelling. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this qualification will have demonstrated competence in numeracy and literacy skills at NQF Level 1 or equivalent, and information technology on NQF level 2 or equivalent.

    Tourist attraction information is obtained from accredited sources and listed for specified timeframes, according to geographical area and updated as per company standards and procedures.

    Event and tourist attraction information is obtained from accredited sources and recorded and stored in required format.

    Event and tourist attraction information is available as and when required by the customer.

    Identify location and routes to and from a destination for a customer.

    Location venues are obtained from accredited sources and details about the destination are stored according to organisational requirements.

    Restrictions on cross-border travel regarding rentals are obtained from accredited sources and recorded according to organisational requirements.

    Restrictions and conditions are explained to the rental/hire customers and acceptance is obtained on required company documentation.

  • An individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this unit standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA.
