PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A learner who has achieved this unit standard will be competent in:

Recovering hexane from paprika spent without supervision to ensure maximum recovery efficiency.

Literacy, numeracy and communication skills at or equivalent to NQF level 3.

UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
The scope of this standard units deals with the recovery of hexane from paprika spent, monitoring of hexane levels and temperature, vacuum pressure, steam, valves, spent discharge, rotary locks and desolventizer agitator.

The specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard are performed without direct supervision, but with access to standard working procedures and operating instructions.
