The person credited with this unit standard is able to render appropriate support to a team of consultants in administrative matters as required.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Addressing a wide range of administrative issues to foster ongoing improvement in service delivery
  • Performing administrative support functions in a way that will leave the public with a positive view of the consulting firm
  • Contributing to the formulation of administrative policies, norms and procedures 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that the learner is competent in Communication at NQF Level 4.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Appropriate information on administrative support requirements is gathered from a client and documented correctly according to organisational policies and procedures 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Suggested administrative actions/systems to be implemented are identified and listed, along with the advantages and disadvantages of each, for the client in question 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Meetings with all stakeholders in a consulting engagement are arranged at which administrative needs and proposed actions to be taken are confirmed orally and in report format 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Perform administrative support functions to promote the image of the consulting firm.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Decisions are taken on which administrative support actions are to be undertaken by the learner-consultant in service of the client

    Administrative support actions are prioritised and scheduled in conjunction with the senior consultants

    Actions are undertaken to serve the client that are in line with the consulting firm's service ethic, policies and procedures, and the directions given by senior consultants

    Records of important decisions and key actions in providing necessary administrative support to the client are made and kept up-to-date according to organisational policies and procedures.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The administrative policies, norms and procedures of a client's organisation are identified, described and analysed to determine the degree of coherence between them 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The administrative policies of the client's organisation are analysed to determine areas where gaps exist in terms of current practice 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Alterations and additions are recommended to make the policies more relevant 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Policies and procedures are analysed to ensure that they promote best practice in the organisation
