When credited, the learner`s applied competence will be to safely assemble and disassemble equipment tool parts according to manufacturers` recommendations and industry norms and standards to maintain its functionality.

Recognition or Prior Learning (RPL) must be applied should the learner provide sufficient evidence that he/she has attained the competencies outlined in this Unit Standard.

Upon successful completion of this Unit Standard the learner is capable of:
  • Preparing the work area for the safe assembly and disassembly of equipment and tools.
  • Locating the position of, and securing the equipment and tool parts.
  • Removing the parts from equipment or tools, and placing the parts neatly over the work area.
  • Identifying the sequence of the respective equipment or tool parts, and the assembly and disassembly sequence of the equipment and tool parts.
  • Checking functionality and safe operation of the equipment and tools after assembly.
  • Effecting general maintenance on equipment and tools limited to storage, cleaning, adjustment and repair.

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
The learning assumed to be in place prior to the learner attempting this Unit Standard is:
  • Numeracy and Literacy skills equivalent to NQF 3.
  • A working knowledge of health and safety as required by the OH&S Act as amended.
