PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Qualifying learners will be able to generate white liquor using a causticizing process, by operating, monitoring and controlling the process whilst adhering to Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality requirements. They also understand the process principles/fundamentals of generating white liquor using a causticizing process. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
Learners attempting this unit standard are required to read, understand and interpret operating manuals which are of a technical nature. It is therefore required that they have achieved NQF level 3 or equivalent accreditation. 

UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
This unit standard covers the process from green liquor ex smelt tank to strong white liquor storage.
