PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Learners acquiring this standard will be learning towards obtaining a national qualification or are working within an abnormal load transport environment, where acquisition of competence against this standard will add value to learner`s job, or chances of finding employment.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Identifying and determining the correct vehicle to be used per trip, in terms of the TRH 11
  • Conducting comprehensive pre trip planning
  • Planning the trip, including the route, escort requirements (Traffic and own), overhead and structural clearances from all appropriate institutions
  • Conducting all responsibilities of the "responsible person" in terms of the exemption permit 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
  • Learners accessing this unit standard / qualification will have demonstrated competence against numeracy, literacy and communication at NQF Level 3 or the Certificate in road transport management.
