| PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION |
| Apply the educational knowledge, skills and values (KSV's) to integrate the competency areas of a professional wealth manager for effective management practice. Successful learners will demonstrate knowledge, skills and applied competence in the area of professional wealth management including subject areas such as contracting, negotiations, relationship management, financial acumen and behavioural finance. In so doing, this programme provides opportunities for continued personal growth through lifelong learning, gainful economic activity and rewarding contributions to society. |
| LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING |
| The Qalification is aimed at middle and senior level managers with a commensurate area of responsibility including managing a department or large number of clients in the wealth management industry of a private organisation. Learners admitted to this programme must have six years of relevant working experience in the financial services industry, three of which should be in a dedicated wealth management position with responsibilities for client engagement, solutions development, and profit and loss over a client base and responsibility for strategy execution within a larger division or operation.
A National Senior Certificate but preferably a recognised three year Qualification relevant to the financial services industry with the levels of achievement as defined in the legislative requirements presented by the relevant ETQA. Recognition of Prior Learning: The Qualification recognises formal and non-formal prior learning (incorporating experiential learning) and learners must complete a portfolio of assessments as governed by the Universities RPL policy. |

| The Critical Cross-Field Outcomes (CCO's) for this Qualification are presented below:
1. Practical Competency: The demonstrated ability/skill to achieve the major Skills/Applied Competencies of the programme at middle to senior management wealth manager level. 2. Foundational Competency: The demonstrated understanding, by the learner, of the Embedded Knowledge and principals that underpins the modules under this wealth management programme. 3. Reflective Competency: The demonstrated ability/skill to integrate or connect learner performances both before, during and after the programme and to reflect on, evaluate and adopt the above competencies with special reference to conducting business and sustaining profitable long-term relationships with wealth clients. To successfully complete the programme the learner will have to demonstrate his/her learning via module specific learning outcomes as well as Critical Cross-Field learning Outcomes. Module specific outcomes will include capabilities relating to module knowledge and the understanding thereof within a management leadership context, and capabilities relating to integrated knowledge and skills from a variety of disciplines within the management leadership field. Critical Cross-Field Outcomes will include those specified in the learning outcomes for approved modules in the Certificate and as appropriate to the learner`s field of practice. Upon completion of the programme, learners must demonstrate functional abilities by being able: 1. Understanding Private Banking Paradigms, demonstrate "true" Private Banking practices from the local and global markets, understand the Wealth Management environment and differences to private banking, understand and interpret holistic wealth management, be able to execute Wealth Management as a differentiator for Private Banking practices and understand the role that macroeconomic trends and best practices have on the actions of the wealth manager (Private banking and wealth management skills). 2. Acquire appropriate leadership skills to supplement developed management skills including self knowledge; personal mastery, managing change and setting strategic objectives and reflecting on the application and success thereof to adapt behaviour. (Leadership skills). 3. Demonstrate an ability to apply both strategic thinking and strategic management by being able to scenario plan with a long term perspective and make judgments to develop strategic direction for an organisation by reconciling paradoxes in the external and internal environments of the organisation (Strategic execution skills). 4. In the area of private banking, be able to demonstrate: fiduciary management; estate planning, the fundamentals of financial planning, the appropriate financial knowledge and skill to manage wealth, the technical knowledge and skill to advise on fiduciary, estate planning and financial planning, the application of knowledge and insight to the role of alternative investments in wealth management and to be able to analyse the role of international investment planning in wealth management (Financial Management skills). 5. In the area of practice management, be able to demonstrate: client Segmentation, client life cycle theory, portfolio profitability, pricing, skills essential to be able to advise a client; practice management skills in the sphere of managing a small business; interpreting the life-cycle of the client; portfolio profitability (Profit and loss) and how to evaluate practice management as a business entity (Marketing and customer segmentation skills). 6. In the area of customer relationship management, be able to demonstrate: the principles of being a trusted Advisor, how to build enduring financial partnerships, relationship building, demonstrate self-directed leadership skills, presenting oneself for Impact (building confidence), demonstrating skills of being a trusted Advisor, apply networking skills and how to practically build relationships (relationship building skills). 7. In the area of ethics and compliance, be able to demonstrate: A thorough knowledge of appropriate legal requirements and sector-specific legislation (FICA; FAIS), Demonstrate knowledge and be able to advise on tax legislation, understand ethics in business and the importance of corporate governance (Legislation and compliance skills). 8. In the area of credit and risk management, to be able to demonstrate: A full understanding of the concepts and principle of risk and the impact of decision making on the risk portfolio of the customer and the franchise, be able to explain the principles of credit risk management, how credit impacts Private Banking and the appropriate credit risk management principles. 9. In the area of sales and marketing, be able to demonstrate: Expert sales and probing Skills by applying deductive reasoning, demonstrate an understanding of the sales cycle and the effectiveness of sales techniques in Private Banking environment. 10. In the area of developing integrates sales management solutions, delegates must be able to demonstrate: the ability to develop practical solutions by applying product knowledge/structuring by applying an appropriate expert Advice Model, must demonstrate the ability to network and negotiate business, how to develop a potential wealth preservation solution for a Private Banking client and apply wealth management tools to propose a financial solution to High-net worth clients. 11. Plan and exercise advanced research skills in the fields of marketing, finance, strategy, operations management and leadership with the ability to synthesise the information that optimally delivers on the business strategy. 12. Demonstrate appropriate strategic technology tools by applying the relevant theory effectively in the business environment (Advanced analytical techniques, corporate governance reporting, value engineering and innovation); reflect on their own ability. 13.
