PURPOSE AND RATIONALE OF THE QUALIFICATION 
To prepare registered nurses as analytical, critical thinking nurse educators / managers and community nurses who are able to function within a multidisciplinary health team

  • Strategies that facilitate partnership within the health multi-disciplinary team are used to manage a nursing education / health care unit
  • Cultural diversity of the health team and consumers of health services is taken cognisance of the application of the scientific management process
  • Autonomy, responsibility and accountability for a nursing education / health care unit management is assumed
  • Strategic planning processes are used to manage a nursing education / health care unit
  • Guidelines of the South African Accreditation bodies are applied to manage a nursing education / health care unit


    Integrated assessment:

    A range of continuous formative methods including: prescribed practicals, tutotials, tests and written examinations. Seminars and project work singly and in groups will also be used to assess whether the specified outcomes have been achieved

    Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a tutor, community nurse and nurse manager
